A German brothel has come up with a novel idea to help the environment and its customer during the economic crisis. They are offering a discount to customers who use public transport or bicycles to get to the premises.
The Maison d’envie in Berlin will be offering a €5 discount (about £4.28) to any customers who can prove they travelled there by bicycle or public transport. Owner of the brothel Thomas Goetz talked about the new initiative saying that: “The recession has hit our industry hard; obviously we hope that the discount will attract more people”.
He also added: “It’s good for business, it’s good for the environment – and it’s good for the girls”.
Mr Goetz said that the new plan seems to be working saying that, “We have around 3-5 new customers coming in daily to take advantage of the discount”.
Prostitution is legal in Germany and it now has around 400,000 prostitutes working in the country. Since 2002, prostitutes have been allowed to enter formal labour contracts with their clients.
