It was announced early Sunday morning that the famous football star, Christiano Ronaldo, 25, has become a first time father. The Real Madrid and Portugal player announced at the weekend that he had become a father to a month old baby boy on social networking site ‘Twitter’. The footballer ‘Tweeted’: “It is with great joy and emotion that I inform I have recently become father to a baby boy. As agreed with the baby’s mother, who prefers to have her identity kept confidential, my son will be under my exclusive guardianship. No further information will be provided on this subject and I request everyone to fully respect my right to privacy (and that of the child) at least on issues as personal as these are.”

As written above, the mother of the baby has remained anonymous, however it is thought that she is American. This information was then later posted on another social networking website, Facebook, and then later confirmed by Ronaldo’s manager. It is also rumored that the paper work allowing the baby to be moved from the US to Portugal is being dealt with by Ronaldo’s family, where the star would have exclusive custody over the child.

Ronaldo’s girlfriend reacted to the news by simply writing “My boyfriend is now father of a boy” upon her Facebook page. Although he refuses to talk any further on the topic, this can’t stop us wondering and questioning just who exactly the mother could be…?

The host city for the 2010 Winter Olympics has enjoyed its warmest January on record, normally this wouldn’t be a problem however the Games opening ceremony is taking place on Friday and organisers are worried about the lack of snow at the venue for freestyle skiing and snowboarding events Cypress Mountain. It’s frustrating enough when you are on your skiing holiday and find unseasonal warm temperatures affecting your snow, even worse when there are thousands of competitors and visitors coming to the area and needing snow.

Vancouver Organizing Committee (VANOC) said it had been making and stockpiling snow near Cypress before the weather turned, and the task now was now to move it to the competition area. “There’s a lot of snow on the mountain, it’s just not in the place we want it. It’s not going to be easy, but we’ll get it done.” said VANOC’s chief executive John Furlong.

The resort of Whistler a popular ski holiday destination has not suffered from the same problem as Cypress Mountain, the venue for Nordic and alpine skiing has plenty of snow. The completion organisers have said that their main priority is to make sure that the completion areas have enough snow and are not worrying that the surrounding area is not covered with snow.

Plane forced to make emergency landing as English football fans cause ruckus on a flight to Germany.

On the flight from Manchester two “extremely drunk” football fans began throwing punches at each other, cabin crew was called to restrain the pair but they were unable to. According to Franz Winkler, from the police department in Frankfurt, “The captain wanted to avoid a further escalation and endangerment to the aircraft so put down in Frankfurt.”

The pair were part of a group of 12 who had travelled to see Bayern Munich and Schalke 04 play at the weekend, the remainder of the group were permitted to continue their journey. One of the men was told he would face charges. Easy Jet confirmed that the trouble on board did not place any passenger at risk, that the captain had acted entirely properly and that “no such arguments between passengers would be tolerated on flights.”

Olympic cyclist Robert Kiserlovski has been fined by police in Croatia for delaying traffic during his training in Bakrac. The London 2012 medal hopeful was pulled over with his training partner, Bojan Rafaj and given a 500 Croatian Kuna fine (around£60) for pedalling too slow.

The police stated that the pair had been holding up the traffic because cars could not overtake them and they should of been riding faster.

Disgruntled by the fine, Kiserlovski and Rafaj deny the charges, instead telling the court that their average speed was over 20mph.

Mr Kiserlovski said, “We were going faster than most of the cars on the road,” adding that: “This is the third time the police have pulled me over.”

The Croatian police have refused to comment about the incident.

US sports fans got more than they bargained for when they sat down to watch the Super Bowl on Sunday. Viewers in Arizona were shocked when TV coverage of the game was interrupted by a pornographic video clip.

Comcast, a Philadelphia based Cable Company, whose viewers saw the pornographic material has issued an apology, and has started a full investigation. Comcast’s corporate communications vice president Jennifer Khoury said: “Our initial investigation suggests this was an isolated malicious act”.

And added that: “We did an extensive preliminary check on our technical systems, and everything appeared to be working properly when the incident occurred”.

The clip interrupted regular coverage of the Super Bowl seconds after the last touchdown of the match by the Arizona Cardinals, and showed a woman unzipping a man’s trousers and performing sexual acts on him.

It is still not known how the TV signal was interrupted.

The Pittsburgh Steelers won the match 27 – 23, beating the Arizona Cardinals, and earning their sixth Super Bowl win.
