Brazil police seize passports of three Olympic officials allegedly involved in illegal ticket sales scam

There is nothing that is new about “touts” buying tickets for popular events and then selling them on for a much higher price than their face value. So it will have come as no surprise that this has happened at the recent Rio Olympics, although in this case they could have had their “fingers burned” as from television coverage, it appears that most events had masses of empty seats.

Why has the Olympic diving pool turned green?

Well it is highly unlikely that someone has “peed after a spectacular dive, but the fact that the water was a dark shade of green instead of bright blue, has brought a massive response on social media, most of it not very complementary either!

In a breach of protocol in the security that surrounds the England football team, tonight the official team sheet for the squad was tweeted out by the team sponsor Vauxhall to their 73,000 followers. This may not seem like a major issue as fans would be delighted to see who had been picked for the match against Ecuador, but what hadn’t been considered was that the sheet also contains passport numbers and dates of birth. Flares and pepper spray don’t mix – who’d of thought? Fan turns into fireball at football game

A football fan carrying a lit flare got a bit of a shock when a riot police officer fired pepper spray at him during a Polish League game at the weekend.

The incredible picture below shows the fan trying to climb a fence segregating fans and carrying a flare. Unbeknown to the fan the riot police officer got his trusty pepper spray out, not knowing that its contents were flammable. You can guess what happened next. (more…)

Jobs for Moyes

So now David Moyes will be joining the millions of unemployed in the UK, after he was sacked yesterday by Manchester United. The sudden but not unexpected sacking is tactical of the Manchester United board, not finishing in the top 4 means that at this point, the club need only give Moyes a one-year pay-off under the terms of his six-year deal, rather than honour the full four years left on that contract.

They were big boots to fill for anyone, Sir Alex Ferguson, the Man, the Myth, the Legend no one really could replace him. And it seems the successor, chosen by Ferguson personally; David Moyes just wasn’t up to the task of managing the biggest club in the world. Iran’s female footballers to undergo gender tests

Iranian women’s footballers are to undergo mandatory gender exams to prove that they are real women. The Iranian football’s governing body is set to bring in the random tests within Iran’s professional women’s league after it was revealed that several of their top players had not completed gender sex change surgeries or are suffering from sexual development disorders.
