Diners see tigers maul handler

Diners at a celebrity circus event saw an animal trainer mauled by 3 tigers during a performance, the trainer Christian Walliser 28, who had lost his footing before the tigers attacked him had to have his hand amputated and has also suffered serious head and chest injuries and is currently in a critical condition in hospital. There were about 200 diners at the circus event who had paid around £120 to attend, and many thought that the attack was part of the act, which includes the animals performing special tricks. Stage hands had to use water cannons to get the tigers of the trainer and back into their cages and then a doctor from the audience tried to stop the bleeding from Mr Walliser.

Circus World who put on the shows are still going ahead with the next event which will take place on the 15th December, with the 3 tigers still carrying on in the performances, Stefan Pagels who is the circus chief has said, “First of all, the tigers did nothing wrong. Secondly, we never punish our animals, we only ever reward them. Punishing them would serve no purpose and there is no reason to put them to sleep”.

Too right the tigers weren’t punished, as the handler should already know the dangers of the job and that there’s a reasonable chance of this happening, in fact three times the chance with three tigers.
