Dog Saves Missing Three Year Old Girl’s Life
A small dog is believed to have saved a Polish girl’s life after she went missing from her home in the village of Pierzwin in Lubusz province on Friday. She was last seen playing with the small black dog earlier that day.
The three year old girl, named Julia, was discovered lying in marshland several kilometres from her home on Saturday morning with the dog alongside her. Despite temperatures overnight dropping to -5C (23F), Julia was admitted to hospital suffering no more than frostbite. Firefighter Grzegorz Szymanski attributes her wellbeing to the dog which kept her warm enough to survive, stating that: “For the whole night the animal was with the girl, it never left her. Remember it was 5 degrees below zero and the child was wet.”
A search party of over 200 people including a police helicopter with infrared cameras and search dogs had searched through the night for the child. She was eventually found by firefighters when they heard her cries for her mother.
