At last, a rotten company gone to the wall. I cancelled my cruise and they tried to charge me the full brochure price despite my invoice saying otherwise.

Read this from the travel trade press. Note that the Co-op may be sometimes £50 more, but we are not likely to disappear!

“Carnival UK terminated its agency agreement with Gill’s Cruise Centre on Tuesday afternoon.

The cruise giant’s sales and customer services director Giles Hawke confirmed Carnival had served notice on the agency.

Hawke said: “We have terminated our agency agreement with Gill’s. We made a decision that we needed to do the best thing for our customers and assure their bookings and peace of mind.”

Carnival UK, along with Royal Caribbean and Fred Olsen Cruise Line, moved to take money direct from Gill’s customers two weeks ago as they were concerned at the agency’s level of debt”

Gills cruises sent me an e-mail this morning advertising a cruise Asia to Australia
CALL NOW they said so I did. They quoted me £3999 which I though was excellent and proceeded to book it. The chap went away for flight times and come back with the devastating news the cruise had gone up to £5999 IN 5 MINS?????. He said that was May’s price This is the 18 June ?????? and tried to fluff me off with all sort of excuses
I have run of the advert so they can not change it. and will take the matter futher these companies just should not get off with there lies and deceit and mis advertising

My partner and myself paid for a cruise to depart on the 17th May 2011 aboard the ill-fated MSC Opera. As reported in the National press the cruise was cancelled at the very last moment by the cruise company. Gills Cruises Ltd have attempted to persuade us to take an alternative cruise. We do not want any further dealings with either Gills Cruises or MSC Cruises Ltd. When we enquired as to when we could expect our money back we were informed that it could be “some weeks”. Some one is playing sticky fingers with our money (some £2,200.00. Watch this space for further developments.

I agree my dressing gown did take along time to come but I’ve got it now – its really comfy and fluffy with nice long sleeves – I hate the shorter sleeve ones – its a nice snuggl;y fit

I also received a free dressing gown or luxury robe as they call it, but after the the service I received why would I want to wear it (with their logo) promoting this shoddy company. I think they should get back to basics because there are travel agents out there selling the same cruises but with much better customer service. I will never book with gills again.

on October the 18th I booked 2 cruises with gills at the time they had a special offer on if you booked a cruise you had a free dressing gown I was told when I booked they would send 2 dressing gowns. Well after 3 phone calls all telling me they are on the way and emailing them I am still waiting its now the 8th Febuary. Would like to know if any body has had the same problem and not recieved their free dressing gown’s.
