Two drunken men amusingly broke into a police van to fool around. Ryan Letchford and Jeffrey Olson took pictures of each other pretending to get arrested however, the plan was slightly flawed after they got locked inside the van and really were arrested.
The pair had been at a party on Friday night when they spotted the empty patrol vehicle. They decided to climb inside and began to play with the equipment and take pictures.
Police arrived at the van in the early hours of the morning and arrested the criminals. The two of them were charged for three different crimes: attempted theft of a motor vehicle, public drunkenness and criminal mischief, police said.
It is thought that the door of the vehicle had been left unlocked and the men entered the van through that. While inside the van, the two men had been leisurely smoking.
Letchford and Olson soon realised they were stuck inside and tried to kick through the metal cage separating the criminals from the driving area. One friend became worried when the two didn’t return to the party, he wondered outside and noticed the pair were both locked inside the van. He wasn’t able to open the door, and so called police at 3:57 a.m.
Connor, the owner of the van, was woken up by the authorities and attended the scene, quickly arresting the two men inside.
