A Michigan man could face up to three months in jail after a friendly game of Monopoly turned violent. Kenneth Repke, 54, faces charges of assault and battery after allegedly slapping a woman and damaging her glasses after she declined to sell Broadwalk and Park Place (US version of Mayfair and Park Lane) to him.
The victim called the police saying: “I was at my neighbour’s house. We were playing Monopoly and he hit me. He slapped me and knocked my glasses off.”
Neighbours have been shocked by the incident, saying that Mr Repke and the woman regularly met for board game sessions. One neighbour said: “I thought that was violent for a game that’s supposed to be friendly. I guess he takes his Monopoly pretty seriously.”
Kenneth Repke will appear in court this week and if found guilty, could be imprisoned for up to three months.
