School children were lucky to escape serious injury yesterday as a tractor ripped through the top deck of their bus on the way home from Bradon Forest School in Purton, Wilts. 3 of pupils were injured and taken to hospital after a metal tractor grabbing arm sliced through the bus like a can opener, scared kids dived for cover when the arm went into the bus and nearly cut it in half.
A young girl was trapped and had to be cut out and removed through a window on a spinal board by fire crews and air lifted to hospital, the other 2 pupils were taken to via road for treatment. The remaining pupils on the bus, its driver and the tractor driver were all assessed at the scene and given the all clear. Police are probing as to why the tractor had its arm extended dangerously into the road and we counting themselves lucky that more were not injured. Brandon Forest School head teacher said “This is any parent or teacher’s worst nightmare.”
