The Turfgrass Growers Association has released a new video that highlights the severe impact of the prolonged hot and dry conditions experienced during 2026 on UK turf production.
The video features turf growers from across the country and shows the practical challenges facing the industry, including depleted water resources, restrictions on irrigation, crop damage, and the difficult decisions growers are making to protect current and future production.
The effects of the drought will continue long after rainfall returns. Damaged crops require further work and extended growing periods before they can be harvested, while many sports pitches remain unusable until the ground softens and grass begins to grow again.
