Breadalbane has entered a strategic partnership with The Exiteers, a Scottish business consultancy and investment firm. As part of the deal, The Exiteers will take a minority stake in the commercial finance brokerage and will provide investment, digital expertise and operational support.

James Johnstone will join as managing director of Breadalbane, having previously served as director of its property finance team. He will oversee the company’s growth across Scotland and the wider UK.

Johnstone said: “I’m incredibly proud to take on the role of Managing Director at such an exciting point in Breadalbane’s journey.

“We have a brilliant team, fantastic relationships across the funding market and a client base that has always been at the heart of what we do.

“The partnership with The Exiteers gives us additional expertise and support to build on those foundations and provides a fantastic platform for the next stage of our growth.”

Johnstone added: “Our focus remains very simple: providing ambitious businesses with outstanding advice, access to funding and a level of service that genuinely makes a difference.”

Jamie Lindsay of Breadalbane said: “This is a genuinely exciting new chapter for Breadalbane.

“Over the years we have built a fantastic brand, an experienced team and, most importantly, strong relationships with clients, introducers and lenders across the UK.

“Bringing The Exiteers into the business gives us additional experience, investment and commercial support while allowing us to retain everything that makes Breadalbane what it is.”

Lindsay added: “James’s appointment as Managing Director is also an important part of that next chapter.

“He knows our business, our clients and our market exceptionally well and has the drive and ambition to lead the team forward.

“I’ve known Phil, Peter and Siobhan for some time and there is a real alignment in the way we think about business: relationships matter, people matter and ultimately you have to deliver, along with James, their leadership will take the business forward.”

Phil Morris, co-founder of The Exiteers, said: “We are delighted to invest in and partner with Breadalbane.

“It is a fantastic business with a strong reputation, an experienced team and significant growth potential.

“What attracted us to Breadalbane was the strength of the business that Jamie and the team have built.”

Morris added: “Our role is not to change what makes Breadalbane successful, but to bring additional investment, expertise and infrastructure that can help the business realise its potential.

“We’re particularly excited to support James and the wider team as they take Breadalbane into its next phase of growth.”
