Bristol City returned to winning ways on Friday evening at Ashton Gate, beating Watford 1-0 thanks to a first-half goal from Dom Ballard. The victory ended a run of two straight defeats against Southampton and Lincoln and sent the Robins into the three-week international break on a positive note.
Michael Skubala's side dominated large parts of the game and could have added a second when summer signing Lorent Tolaj came off the bench, but he missed two good chances. Despite a nervy finish, City held on for a controlled win.
The result leaves Bristol City fifth in the Championship after eight games. If other results go their way over the weekend, they could enter October in the play-off places.
