Payward and the London Stock Exchange (LSE) reached an agreement on Monday to tokenize 100 of the largest UK-listed companies through the xStocks framework. Payward said the products will be available within weeks to eligible investors in more than 110 countries.
UK-based investors will not be among them. The planned rollout gives overseas users continuous onchain access to British blue chips, while the products remain unavailable in their home market.
The partnership also gives Payward, the parent of crypto exchange Kraken, a route into established exchange infrastructure. Subject to regulatory approval, the LSE plans to list xStocks and support their trading on LSE 24, its separate near-continuous venue.
Payward did not name the first companies, token tickers, or an exact launch date. The announced scope broadly corresponds to the biggest names in London's equity market, but the companies themselves are not issuing the tokens.
