Greg Bell, chief executive of Skipton Business Finance, has been appointed chair of UK Finance’s product and service board for invoice finance and asset-based lending. He succeeds HSBC’s Laura Murray and will serve a two-year term representing the wider sector.
Bell has nearly three decades of experience across invoice finance, asset-based lending and commercial finance, and has sat on the UK Finance board for a number of years. He was also one of the founding directors of Skipton Business Finance, which is marking its 25th year in business.
Greg said: “It’s a real honour to take on the role of chair at such an important time for the sector.
“Invoice finance and asset-based lending have a vital role to play in supporting ambitious UK businesses, and I want to make sure our industry continues to have a strong, credible voice in the conversations shaping access to finance, SME growth and the wider economy.
“Over the next two years, my focus will be on bringing the industry together around the issues that matter most, strengthening understanding of the value our sector provides and helping shape the next chapter for invoice finance and asset-based lending.”
The appointment was announced at the UK Finance Invoice Finance & ABL Annual Dinner & Awards in London. In his new role, Bell will represent the sector at a time of continued focus on SME growth and access to finance, as well as the role specialist funding can play in supporting businesses across the UK.
