Family leave Grandmothers corpse to rot to collect her pension

Family members left their Grandmothers corpse to rot in her bedroom so they could collect her benefits, pensioner Olive Maddock’s remains were found by police when they went round to check on the pensioner who was 95. Neighbours had become concerned after being fobbed off by the ladies family about her whereabouts so they called police.

In a chilling reflection to the 1960s horror film Psycho Olive was put in her room by daughter, Hazel, 61, and 35-year-old granddaughter Jasmine, according to court documents.

The neighbour who raised the alarm said: “What is most strange is that the girls came and left the house as normal all those months. I’d enquired after Olive’s health several times but Hazel would simply tell me she wasn’t up to coming out and had gone a bit loopy. It gives me the creeps whenever I look at that house now.”

The police went to the families home, in Wallasey, Merseyside, which they found dirty and vermin infested in August last year after an alarm was raised, inside officers found the elderly woman’s remains behind the door of her bedroom.

Tests carried out on the body confirmed that she died of natural causes however they were unable to determine the exact date she died.
Her daughter Hazel Maddock, who had appeared in Brookside and Hollyoaks as a TV extra, admitted fraudulently obtaining her mother’s pension, while she and her artist daughter pleaded guilty to unlawful prevention of burial. The judge at Liverpool crown court warned they both face jail when they are sentenced next month.
