Fabia Cerra – Britains Got Talent

There have been lots of arguments and complaints put forward to ITV and Ofcom as one of the contestants to the popular competition showed some nudity as part of their act.

Fabia Cerra – Britains Got Talent

Fabia Cerra is a 35 year old house housewife and mother of one from Oxford who recently performed on the talent competition show Britain’s Got Talent and performed a burlesque dance routine. Fabia striped down and forced ITV to cover her breasts with large digital union jacks. More than 10 million people watched the extra – long opening show of the series, and 39 people complained.

Some people see Fabia as a role model, or someone who inspires them, that was the intention of the act, as Fabia quotes; “Some people would have given up by now but it’s just made me stronger. I want to be a role model for larger women, a role model for drug users and a role model for anyone who has had to face a hard life.’ as she reveals that she was beaten and sexually abused as a child and turned to alcohol and drugs to ‘get away from it all’. She and many others believe she is a role model to ‘bigger’ women as she is proud of her body and shows everyone that you don’t have to be a size 0 to ‘show off’ your body.

On the other hand many people believe it was inappropriate behaviour as Britain’s Got Talent is rated as a popular family show and many children would have been watching, but to be fair it was after the 9.00pm watershed and all nudity was covered.
Many people have showed support on blogs or chat forums and many agree that you are more likely to see more nudity in newspapers.

We believe that Ofcom shouldn’t apologise for Fabia’s behaviour as there is a lot of supporters behind her and many people believe that she is a role model, look up to her and respect her. After all she did perform after 9.00pm and all the nudity was hidden. Fabia says she was dancing for all the bigger girls out there having come concerned about images of women in today’s media.

I was appalled with her behavior, is this a good example to children watching the programme?

I disagree, I think she is inspirational and a role model to the children.
